A couple of exciting literary things happening this month:
On May 14, a group of talented performers read works by Ottawa authors. Including me! Classic Ottawa II is presented by Third Wall Theatre, 100 Watt Productions and (this year) my beloved Ottawa International Writers Festival.
Last year, they performed my story “We Take Care of Our Own” from Blood and Water and it was fabulous. This year, they’re performing “Their Dead So Near” from Issue 1 of Lackington’s. And the other writers include several of my personal heroes. And the MC is my friend and Ottawa Citizen colleague Joanne Chianello.
And on May 8, I’m the host for the opening event of the Spur festival: A conversation with Heather O’Neill. I got the advance reading copy of her new book The Girl Who Was Saturday Night, and am even more excited to read it after reading this lovely review by Emma Healey.
