Beginnings and firsts

The novel I’ve been working on this year (latest working title: Humours of Grub Street) is ready to go out into the world, so I’ll be somewhat occupied with the submissions process for that over the next few months.

In the meantime, I’ve written and revised a few new stories, and I have two lovely bits of news:

  • My first children’s story (well, my first written with publication in mind) will appear soon in Spellbound
  • I will have a story in the very first issue of Lackington’s, a new magazine that promises to be wonderful. I’m very excited to be sharing a Table of Contents with some writers I admire and working with a great editor.

And I’m starting a new novel. No, I’m not doing NaNoWriMo (props to those who are, though). But I’m outlining like a fiend, and almost ready to start writing. I aim to have it done by the end of March 2014. I don’t even have a working title for it yet.

It’s awfully fun, this new novel idea I’ve got. It’s breaking my brain but it’s fun.
